Karen’s Electi ability is the ropes she calls hands. Her body changed when she was still a child and morphed her hands into a rope like material that stretches far greater than the average reach of a human. They posses extreme durability, strength, and reach. They also allow Karen to reach through narrow gaps or pull herself up off the ground.

Over time, Karen learned how to use her hands to her advantage, but there were bumps in the road discovered with this ability. Their versatility is only hindered by their flammability and weakness to sharp objects. If her ropes are cut off, they can reattach to her body as long as the severed ends of the ropes stay together long enough. If the ropes are destroyed they cannot regenerate

Karen’s story is over in Power Down, for now. Her upbringing is another thing entirely. From an early age, Karen had a knack for trouble. Most of her life was spent on the streets of Brooklyn, New York where she learned quickly to fend for herself. Her parents were not absent, but Karen’s anger always had her mother and father at wits end with their daughter. Gangs and thugs of all sizes usually underestimated the girl during her younger years but by the time she was 18, she was a welcome edition to the nightlife of Brooklyn. A bloody street brawl that Karen initiated led to her swift arrest and brought her into ERA’s eyes. ERA saw Karen as an electi in need of a second chance and assistance with controlling her powers and like many others, offered her enrollment over prison time.

Her life was better at ERA, until she met Brown. For reasons unknown. She took an instant hatred towards the student. No matter the cause of an issue she seemed to always put the blame on Brown. The wine he did not even steal from her store, her arrest via ERA’s staff. It Brown was near. It was his fault alone.

While at ERA, Karen made many alliances with members of the market, but not many of these alliances could be considered a friendship. If you ask anyone still at ERA in the black market, they would admit she had an off air about her. Her only true friendship for a moment seemed to be with a member of her band, The Offchords, named Casti. Before she threw the friendship away for revenge. Anyone else besides Casti was always a puppet for her to use in her eyes. Even Sean, a teacher who she constantly harassed and blackmailed, was only a means to an end.

This ideology led to the events of the Rockathon, where she used her influence over Sean to try and sabotage Brown at first or hurt him. As things escalated her mission became not to embarrass Brown or hurt him, but to kill him. She charged the stage with her band mate, Casti’s knife and managed to wipe most of Brown’s band before Kay stepped in front of her and took the knife for Brown. Officer Walker dealt the final blow and shot both of Karen’s arms off before she could ever complete her mission. Karen was wheeled off in an ambulance with her severed arms, and taken to an Electi prison for an indefinite amount of time. Never to return to ERA again.
