An Electi is any sentient human or Therianthropic human born with an innate, “magical” ability unique to the user alone. Although the exact origins of these meta-humans are unknown, the first modern examples started being born in the 1970s, with no prior hints or indications of their insurgence. As the first Electi were just as confused and uncertain about these newfound abilities as the rest of the world, many people grew to fear, hate, and persecute this new subclass, partly due to their inability to control their powers.
For most, these abilities manifest or awaken typically between the ages of seven to eleven, though some exceptions may apply. These Electi abilities can range from simple, commonplace powers, such as producing electricity, floating, and freezing water, to the rarer, more “flashy,” and unorthodox abilities, such as reality-bending aim assist or extracting a specific metal from one’s own bloodstream. Most abilities also come with equal or even exclusively detrimental downsides, as the “magic” in this world often has a physical cost. Examples of “bad” abilities can include constant friction loss every time the user’s heel touches a surface or the ability to breathe any gas except for oxygen.
