History of the World

Lore Basics

[NOTE:] Since this fictional world was built collaboratively by the PD community, it has naturally undergone numerous revisions, retcons, and refinements over time. Many concepts have been introduced, removed, and reworked, shaping the lore into its current state. While the timeline continues to evolve, this is the most widely accepted version of events:

Thanks to the laborious work and groundbreaking research from the world’s leading expert group in Electology, a recently developed but highly controversial scientific theory—known as Seal Theory—attempts to explain the origins of anomalous phenomena. The theory posits that deep beneath the Earth’s surface, surrounding the planetary core, exist immense tectonic plates imbued with unfathomable energy. These so-called “Seals” act as natural reservoirs of cosmic power from an unknown foreign celestial source. Whenever a Seal fractures, shifts, or otherwise becomes unstable, it releases waves of anomalous energy that seep through the Earth’s crust, triggering global-scale events that defy conventional science; these are known as Anomalous Events. There is still heavy dispute amongst scientists that even accept this theory to any degree what exactly triggers such events of Seal fracturing. However, it is widely believed that there have been at least Three Great Anomolies since recorded history.

The First Anomaly: The Birth of Therians

Thousands of years ago, in the earliest days of human civilization, the first major Anomalous Event occurred in what is now modern-day Egypt. A sudden and unexplained surge of energy saturated the land, polluting the air and fundamentally altering the genetic makeup of the indigenous people. This event is believed to have been caused by the rupture of a Seal deep beneath the region. Over generations, those affected developed distinct physical and physiological traits, giving rise to the first Therians—beings with both human and animalistic attributes. These early Therians eventually spread across the globe, carrying remnants of the Seal’s energy within their bloodlines.

The Second Anomaly: The Frontier Phenomenon

In the early 1900s, another rupture in a thoerized Seal beneath Texas occurred. Unlike the First Anomaly, which affected human biology, this event fundamentally altered the laws of time and physics within a specific area. A massive circular region, covering central Texas, southern Oklahoma, eastern New Mexico, and northern Mexico, became a timeless anomaly known as The Frontier. Within its boundaries, all advanced technology, including electrical circuits, modern machinery, and man-made materials/synthetic compounds like plastics and silicone, ceased to function and rapidly degrade into nonexistence. While organic life remained unaffected, any attempt to bring technological advancements into the region resulted in their immediate failure, effectively freezing The Frontier in a paradoxical state of permanent pre-modern existence. This ongoing phenomenon remains one of the greatest mysteries in recorded history and is now referred to as the Second Anomaly.

The Third Anomaly: The Emergence of Electi

In the 1970s, an unidentified Seal ruptured, unleashing a new wave of anomalous energy that did not alter biological evolution, the land or time itself—but instead manifested within individuals. This led to the birth of a new kind of meta-human: the Electi. Unlike Therians, whose features evolved over generations, Electi are born with unique supernatural abilities that activate at a young age, and die with the user. The cause of this Seal’s fracture remains the most uncertain, and it is unknown whether Electi will continue to be born indefinitely, if there will ever be an exact repeat of a specific ability from a late user, or if this phenomenon will eventually subside. For now, however, they are a permanent fixture of society, marking the Third Anomaly.

Other Minor Anomalous Events and Speculations

To date, there have been no further recorded Anomalous Events, but historical accounts, myths, and legends suggest otherwise. Ancient civilizations have long depicted legendary figures or myths of meta-humans with abilities strikingly similar to modern Electi; tales of powerful beings that could manipulate elements, control nature, or reshape reality itself. There are also records of dragons, deities, and warriors that resemble early Therians. While dismissed by most historians as folklore, some researchers theorize that these stories may be remnants of forgotten Anomalous Events lost to time.

The Present Day: A World in Transition

Aside from the existence of Therians, The Frontier, and Electi, the world has progressed in much the same way as our own, with shared cultural landmarks, traditions, music, cuisine, infrastructure, politics, and technology. However, the introduction of the Third Anomaly has dramatically altered global socio-political landscapes. Nations, communities, and organizations have struggled to adapt to the sudden insurgence of Electi, leading to widespread instability and ideological conflicts. In the U.S., multiple factions have emerged in response—some advocating for Electi rights and integration, while others push for strict regulation or outright eradication. As the world grapples with these changes, one thing remains certain: the impact of the Third Anomaly is far from over, and humanity stands at the precipice of a new, uncertain ERA.
