Since this world was built by and for the community of the project, many clashing ideas and concepts have since been adopted, removed, and developed through time by various members. That said, we’ll do our best to explain the current timeline as simple as possible:
In canon, a recently developed scientific theory, albeit largely disputed and incredibly controversial, suggests that deep below the Earth’s surface, massive plates containing astronomically powerful energy of immeasurable density rests all around the planetary core. Each time one of these plates, or Seals, becomes cracked or shifted, some of this energy breaks free, and seeps through to the surface and creates global Anomalous Events. This explanation has been coined as Seal Theory.
Thousands of years ago, at the epoch of human civilization, the land surrounding modern-day Texas had suddenly altered—a mass pollution of mysterious energy permeated the air, affecting and distorting the native inhabitants of the land. This may have been due to a Seal breaking. Over the course of several generations, these humans became the first Proto-Electi, known as Therians, and spread across the world. This Event is known as the First Anomaly.
In the early 1900s, the same Seal below modern-day Texas broke again, this time doubling the anomalous energy in the area. Instead of altering the DNA structure of humans, however, it altered the flow of time itself in that specific region. The affected area, with a circular radius spanning central Texas, southern Oklahoma, eastern New Mexico, and northern Mexico, became known as The Frontier, as all technology, manmade materials, and modern electronics no longer functioned within its intangible boundaries. Life carried on, but any attempts to create or bring these technologies within the territory became defunct and eventually disintegrated. This ongoing phenomenon is known as the Second Anomaly.
In the 1970s, a Seal in an unknown location broke, releasing the energy the Electi use and continue to be born with. It is unknown for how long these individuals will be born with the Seal energy inside them, but much like the Frontier, it has been assumed they will be here to stay. The collective of Electi brought to existence in this world is considered the Third Anomaly.
There have been no other known Anomalous Events in recorded history. However, legends and myths point to several instances of strange phenomena throughout history, including the sightings and depictions of real dragons, important figures with powers resembling Electi abilities, and ancient deities modeled after mixed Therians. While just stories and tales in our world, these legends may carry much more real merit to this world…
In a nutshell, this brings us to present day. Aside from Therians and the Frontier, progression in human civilization has run relatively parallel to ours, including major cultural landmarks, global traditions, music, cuisine, infrastructure, politics, and technology. However, the Third Anomaly sees a shift in human history, including the beginning of socio-political instabilities throughout various communities, nations, and cultures in part due to the sudden insurgence of Electi. Several factions in the US, for example, have formed as a response to dealing with said Electi, each with wildly varying opinions and degrees of involvement.
