Located in Texas, USA, this area has been consumed by an unknown force that effectively locked the entire region in the American Frontier era, around 1900. Any technological advancement has halted, as any advances made after that point in time simply break in this area, or just don’t work.
This along with the mutated evolution of Anthro kind made The Frontier one of the most dangerous places on the planet, populated by a combination of feral anthros, and a population of anthros that have been socially and culturally frozen in the wild west, living in their little corner of the planet while refusing, and unable to, progress with the rest of the world.
Since most of its inhabitants have embraced the Wild West, that also means ideals and mindsets have remained set in the early 1900s as well. As the Frontier is only recognized as US Territory by name, the sovereign powers remain exclusive to the region alone. This also makes Frontier culture exclusive as well—Tex-Mex, Native/American Indigenous, and Therian/Anthro communities have all gathered to this region and concentrated, often intermingling with one another in ways never thought imaginable.
There have also been efforts to modernize in the ways they can, like powering pneumatic engines with steam and whatever material could have been made in the 1900s, innovating on obsolete equipment to resemble present-day counterparts, even establishing trade routes between the outskirts of the region not affected by Anomalous Energy. Most of these efforts have been spearheaded by a rogue group of Black Sky members calling themselves the Gearheads, whose original surviving members crash-landed from a helicopter on a field research study in the 1980s, unaware of the existence of an airborne EMP range.
