ERA Security

The (Unofficial) Factions of ERA

About

The ERA Security Guard Department (AKA: E.R.A.G.D.) is a private security institution established on ERA campus grounds, to maintain law and order among students and staff alike. While ERA is a government-controlled and federally sponsored facility, the academy itself hired and owns the entire Department personnel, so that its security guards are able to operate under federal civil law, yet outside of legal jurisdictions or government regulations. Chancellor Gerald “Big Arm” Ivory oversees security operations, in lieu of the power vacuum left by former Security Chief Colt’s stabbing.

Due to this power vacuum, many security forces and branches of the Department are largely disconnected from one another, with some guards doing the work of ten officers while entire units are left with little to no work for prolonged periods of time. Two prominent branches, the Guard Force and the Emergency Forces fall into the former category, and are often seen patrolling campus and ultimately being first responders to many scenes. If there’s trouble in ERA (which most of the time, there is), most students are likely to see one or more of these officers:

Guard Force

The garrison inside the academy that handles domestic affairs and public security. All characters listed here belong to one squad within the branch, whom are typically the most effective at solving major cases and well-known among the student body.

Emergency Forces

A specialized branch of guards trained and equipped to handle unusual and anomalous events on campus. Units are deployed upon escalation of campus conflicts, when standard guard force units prove ineffective in containing Electi, or from a discovery/outbreak of anomalous activity. Their gear is usually loaned or repurposed from outdated Vitric technology.

Environmental Hazards Unit

A sub-branch of Emergency Forces, this role is dedicated to natrual disasters and emergencies involving wildfires, earthquakes, floods, winter storms, and any other environmental hazards typically occurring in Montana.

Special Forces

Not much is known of this branch outside of Administration’s classified intelligence, who directly command the units as opposed to Big Arm. Their role is to resolve conflicts and prevent any potential threats to ERA outside campus grounds. If ever, agents are only seen in ERA while off-duty or in between missions.
