Charlie finds Jett slacking off while on patrol duty, but while he subtly reprimands her, he realizes that Steve is effectively dead and her brain, directly tied to the tentacles on her head, has suffered severe damage. He puts her on leave, as she cannot work under these conditions (not like she did a much greater job before, as he informs her), but hearing her anecdote of wanting to live up to her father’s legacy strikes a chord in him, so he calls a favor to Dr. Ernst to try and take her in as a patient, thinking his unorthodox medical practices could help speed up the healing process for Steve.
